The Essential Facts of Backgammon Game Plans - Part Two

As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move their pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor's checkers will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. After you've successfully assembled the prime to block the activity of the opponent, your opponent doesn't even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice again. You'll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar - to hinder your opponent's positions with hope to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy relies on alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often employed when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
