I've review a lot of my companions' books and articles and, as best I can can think of, they all say that refusing to set win/loss boundaries is one of the single worst things you can do. I contest--to some extent.

I agree with setting loss limits. demarcate your trip time intosessions and set firm loss limits for each period. Without them, you can go bankrupt the first day and have to spend the rest of your Vegas getaway watching the waterfall and sunken pirate ship 10 times a day. as a result, disciplined loss limits allow you to manageyour bucks so you don't go broke before it's time to get back home.

I refute that you shouldalso consistently set win limits ("always" is the key word). a lot of of my aides favor abandonment when your winning streak ends. in case you're a local and can return to the table from day to day without difficulty, then most likely win limits may offer some value. on the other hand if you're an infrequent bettor who pop in Vegas two times a year, I uphold that win limits are almost always misguided.

let's say you begin your four-day long weekend by gambling at your first craps session. let's say your win/loss attempt is to abandon the game if you lose your $100 buy-in or if youadvance $150 ahead. a few minutes after you buy-in, the game table goes berserk with a roasting hot roll. The hurler throws for bordering on an hour and not having a 7-out. You break your screaming, jumping up and down, hugging, and kissing to tally your chips. Whoa, you're $900 ahead! The shooter at last tosses a 7-out. What to do?? You've attained six times your original win goal. Do you quit? If so, how long do you close out? Do you back out altogether and not gamble the rest of your trip? If you quit, what will you do in the time that you line up to play craps?

that is the tight spot you embraceif you are only an infrequent crapshooter, which most of us are. Personally, I keep on playing. what's the reason? I came to Vegas to play craps. I did notcome here to relax in fancy spas, or go shopping, or sight-see, or dine atfancy restaurants, or look at boring water fountains, or ogle half-naked pirates, or do anything else but bet on games. So, why walk away when I'm ahead? assuming that I quit after a $900 winning session, then what? Hang out at the bar consuming beer observing all and sundry have fun at the craps table? no chance! Like you, I'm a versed player who knows and accepts that i am possibly to lose by the time I check out of the hotel, but that's alright with me.it is ineffective for me to bow outaftergetting $900 ahead. If money were my mission, I wouldn't have spent $1,200 for two airplane tickets to Vegas, $700 for a hotel room, $500 (maybe more) for food, $500 for my wife's massages, and $1,000 (probably more) for my partner's shopping spree. It doesn't add up. If all I care about is money, I would have conserved a great deal of it by not going. As long as i am coming away with, I'm participating in the game. The only time I call it a day is after I've lost my buy-in money for a particular game. Then, when it's time to start the next session, I pop one more buy-in allotment on the table and start having fun once again.
